Our Impact Mamy Duata, director of the local NGO TERATANY, leads Madagascar’s first shelter for women and girls affected by rape, violence, and child marriage. In a context where support systems are nearly nonexistent, the shelter is becoming a rare lifeline. Women from across the region, even from the most remote villages, are learning about the shelter and seeking safety, care, and hope. Despite extremely limited resources, TERATANY is preparing its next steps: • A Women’s Employment Center to provide single mothers with practical job skills and economic independence • A Technology Campus for high school graduates in southern Madagascar, designed to create long-term opportunity and break cycles of poverty and vulnerability With targeted support, these initiatives can build sustainable pathways for safety, dignity, and self-reliance among Madagascar’s most underserved communities.
